our lady of the sierras shrine

There is a special place in my heart for this sacred area in our mountains. In 2011 a fire destroyed much of the Shrine and the surrounding area, burning over 30,000 acres. The shrine was rebuilt, of course. There is a silence when you arrive, and almost immediately you are met with the urge to follow the Stations of the Cross, regardless of your beliefs. Everything is so beautiful and peaceful – and the man-made waterfall adds to the tranquillity of the space.
